Forgive/Forget

“Forgive/Forget”

Always forgive, but never forget

Never forget hurts that

Others have caused you

Remember so you don’t

Repeat the same mistake

Forgiving does not mean

The hurt was okay, but

It gives you freedom

That person can’t hurt

You anymore, anger only

Hurts you, not the other

Forgive others only to

Release yourself to be free

Hello tumblr world.

Yeah, I know, I have been absent for many months. For that, my apologies. Life seemed to knock me down, and I lost my creative spark. Thanks to a letter I recieved yesterday, I have somehow gotten it back. My poetry has yet again been discovered, this time by Great Poets Across America in Washington, DC. I have been invited to be published in another poetry book in honor of National Poetry Month. I am very excited for this opportunity. They found my poetry through either the books my poetry was published in or on the internet, not sure which. Either way, I think it’s freaking awesome. :) Only I and 305 other poets across the country have been chosen for this opportunity. Pretty freaking sweet. Anyway, I decided to revive my tumblr once again and am excited to be back.

Advice? I don’t have advice. Stop aspiring and start writing. If you’re writing, you’re a writer. Write like you’re a goddamn death row inmate and the governor is out of the country and there’s no chance for a pardon. Write like you’re clinging to the edge of a cliff, white knuckles, on your last breath, and you’ve got just one last thing to say, like you’re a bird flying over us and you can see everything, and please, for God’s sake, tell us something that will save us from ourselves. Take a deep breath and tell us your deepest, darkest secret, so we can wipe our brow and know that we’re not alone. Write like you have a message from the king. Or don’t. Who knows, maybe you’re one of the lucky ones who doesn’t have to.

People’s lives change. To keep all your old friends is like keeping all your old clothes. Pretty soon, your closet is so jammed and everything’s so crushed and you can’t find anything to wear. Help these friends when they need you, bless the years and happy times when you meant a lot to each other, but try not to feel guilty if new people mean more to you now.

I’ve always envied people who sleep easily. Their brains must be cleaner, the floorboards of the skull well swept, all the little monsters closed up in a steamer trunk at the foot of the bed.
